Blog love

I’m having a cup of Caramelized pear tea … it smells soooo good!  Actually, if I had to be honest the smell is nicer than the taste.  I think it’s because it smells sweet but you have to add sugar to make it taste sweet.

Things are going crazy again here at work which means I have less time to blog. Crazy how that works, hey.

Anyway, I was nominated for the Liebster award (again) …

Thanks so much Kenzi!
BTW, have you checked out Kenzi’s blog – Life & Lemons? No! go quick check it out.

Right so I’m sure you know how it works but just in case you don’t here are the details and the ‘rules’ :

About the Liebster: It is an award given to up and coming bloggers with under 200 followers.
Liebster means: sweet, kind, endearing, lovely, valued, and welcome in German.
The Liebster rules:
  •  Each person must post 11 things about themselves
  •  Answer the questions left for you buy the nominator, and create 11 questions for your nominees
  •  Choose your 11 nominees and let them know

Here we go:

11 Things about me:

  1. I have written off two cars … but it was not my fault, I swear, it wasn’t
10.    I don’t add sugar to my coffee but I do add sugar to my tea
09.    I got my first and  only filling at the age of 26 (root canal)
08.    I’ve been wearing braces on my teeth for 2½ years (to fix an over-bit which developed after my root canal was replaced by a crown)
07.    I’m a terrible flirt when I’ve had a couple of drinks … (usually only with people I know)
06.    Because of this, our friends call me easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy
05.    I can’t straighten the last digit of the pinkie on my right hand
04.    I put my right hand through a glass door and cut my pinkie to pieces
03.    I’ve had roughly 65+ visible surgical stitches in my life thus far
02.    As a child I once nearly hung myself with a rope from a tree while playing Tarzan & Jane … on my own
01.    I’ve cracked 2 bones in my body (hand/foot) but I’ve never broken any bones

The 11 Liebster questions that I have to answer:

1. Why did you start blogging?
As a way of keeping track of our lives (for the kids to read about one day) & to have something fun to do at the office when I don’t feel like working.

2. Where do you find your inspiration?
I don’t know about being inspired, I just blog about my life

3. What is your favorite hobby?
Reading

4. Do you have a role model, who is it?
No, not really, have never really had one either … is that strange?

5. What is your guilty pleasure?
Buying books, eating things that I know I should avoid but can’t resist

6. What is your dream job?
Owning a shop that sells cupcakes, cocktails, coffee and books

7. Favorite holiday?
At the coast … it’s not a real holiday if it does not include the sea

8. What is the best advice you can give?
Three things:
1. Choose to be happy, your life might not be perfect but there are many people out there who are in worse situations than you.
2.  Do unto others as you would have others do unto you, because it’s true. What goes around comes around. If you treat people like sh!t they’ll treat you like sh!t but if you treat people in a friendly and respectful manner, chances are they’ll treat you the same way.
And last but by no means the least: Forgive because if you don’t you are likely to turn into a bitter, unhappy and lonely person.

9. Favorite quote?
"No one can make you feel inferior without your consent"- Eleanor Roosevelt

10. What is your favorite book(s)?
Too many to list … but even if I were to list them people would not be impressed … I don’t do literature I read for escape …. escape to crime filled mysteries

11. What do you hope to accomplish in life?
I hope to raise two well adjusted, not totally screwed up, funny, independent kids

And here are my 11 completely random Liebster questions to you:

01.    What would you name the autobiography of your life?
02.   Do you have any strange habits?
03.   What story does your family always tell about you?
04.   Who were you names after? If no one, do you know how your parents picked your name?
05.   If you had to name yourself would you chose the same name(s) … if no what would you pick?
06.   Do you want to know what is going to happen in your future?
07.   How do you have your eggs?
08.   Do you sing in the shower?
09.   Do you suck or bite lollipops?
10.    Are you related or distantly related to anyone famous?
11.     If you were exiled what country would you choose as your new home?

Which brings me to My Liebster nominations.  Now I know you are meant to nominate 11 people but since I’ve nominated people before I’m only going to nominate these 8 ladies.

5. buy cars for us both and a new bike or two for Himself

The usual suspect

So you may or may not know that I am not a dog person.  Despite this fact, we have 3 dogs, not little ones big ones. Boxers.

Lulu, Duke  & Gus

The plan was never to have 3 dogs, yet life does not always turn out how you plan, does it?

We got Lulu in December 2008. That was to be the end. But, about 8 months later someone offered us Duke so we decided to accept him since he would be a good friend for Lulu. And then it happened we had puppies. 3 litters later Lulu was fixed.  Gus sort of stayed with us by default.  He was meant to go to friends of ours but after a day they brought him back saying he was too boisterous. Before we could find a new home for him he broke his hip (we were away for the weekend and a friend was looking after them for us). Since nobody wants a dog with a bum hip we had no choice but to keep him.

Right, so now you know how we ended up having 3 dogs. And to top it all I’m the primary care giver of said dogs since everyone else like having dogs but hates having to take care of them.

Now for the drama.

Duke may or may not have attacked one of the neighbour’s sheep on Wednesday night.

The fact is, he came home covered in blood and we found the sheep but we can’t imagine why he would have just gone after a sheep out of the blue.

Fact, we had some trouble with him acting aggressively towards other dogs but this has improved since he had the snip.

We considered having him put down. Following a late night call to the vet we decided not to do it since we find it hard to believe that he attacked the sheep.  We suspect that something else might have attacked the sheep and that he might have gone after the sheep after the fact.

I had a sleepless night about what the neighbours might have to say about it if they were to find out that Duke is a suspect in this crime.

Luckily the sheep survived the attack and the neighbours told us they suspect that it was a fox. It seems that they have had several attaches on the sheep recently and I am 100% sure that Duke was not involved in any of those.

Can you see why I prefer cats over dogs? I’ve never had a cat that caused me as much stress and frustration as these dogs.
