Pretoria - aka the Jacaranda city



It’s not often, but once in a while I get a little pang of ‘home-sickness’ for South Africa.  It’s not that I still consider it as being home but there are just some things that you can’t replace.  The smell of the air, the dry heat. O boy do I miss the heat!

Right now it is spring and a very good friend sent me a couple of pictures, (actually, I’m not so sure if she is such a good friend at the moment) just to remind me of what my home town looks like at the moment.

For the record I have no idea who should get the credit for these pictures but I hope they don’t mind me sharing them with you all.

    Those pictures are just GORGEOUS!!! I don't know about missing heat though. I'm a cold weather kind of gal - LOVING that it's getting cool here in Maryland :)

    That is gorgeous. Our purple flowers bloom here once a year.....always one of my favorites!

    Wow!!!! How stunning! I bet you do get homesick this time of year. Trip went to South Africa once on business, and he fell in love with it!

    Wow, that is BEAUTIFUL!! And not what I'd picture when I think of South Africa! Learn something new every day... ;) I don't blame you for feeling homesick every now and then.

    Oh my gosh!!!! Those trees!!! They look like they're straight out of a fairy tale! Do you know what they are?

    Pretty sure pictures like this would make anyone homesick. They make me want to visit!
