What do you think?

So this is all over the online newspapers so I was wondering what you all thought about this:

First Ms. Kang posted this photo on her FB page:

image was found on her FB page, but I covered the faces

Then apparently last Friday she that posted that she  was 'annoyed' by 'news stories about how overweight, nearly obese women should be proud of their bodies' - referring directly to a story by MailOnline highlighting a 'selfie' photo campaign launched by Curvy Girl Lingerie.

Now, I’m curious to know what you ladies think.

Do you think she is right?
Do you think she is wrong?
Do you think she is both a little right and a little wrong?

  1. I don't think that women should be judging other women for their bodies or choices- both on her side and not. I wish we would all just stop. And I hope that this photo and tagline- what's your excuse?- does not make ladies feel badly. I think she's a professional gym person or something, right? Most women don't have that kind of situation, so I do not think it's fair for ladies to compare themselves to this, or really to anybody else. Apples and oranges.

  2. I hadn't heard this new piece about her being annoyed with the news story, but I did support her when everyone attacked her after she released that photo. She isn't a personal trainer - she's a mom with a regular job. And by posting that controversial photo, I do think she was trying to be motivational, not confrontational. Because the truth is, we CAN do better. Pretty much all of us can.

As far as this new development, should curvy girls be proud of their bodies - heck yeah they should!!! But should unhealthy {obese} people be proud of being unhealthy - no, I don't think they should.

  3. This is a tough one. I think she should be proud of herself and can show off her hard work if she wants, but she shouldn't shame anyone else while doing it. I also don't think plus sized bodies should be celebrated or called "normal" because honestly, it just isn't healthy to be overweight. And that's coming from a plus sized lady over here!

  4. I hadn't seen this - I say go her for looking so great and making her health a priority, but I disagree with shaming others - I don't think anyone was ever motivated by being put down.

  5. The way I look at it is if you are healthy and you have curves you should be damn proud, but if you are obese and unhealthy then you should try to be a healthier person, not for her but for yourself. I applaud Kang because she has a rockin body and she has kids and a job - that can't be easy! I only have one kid, a part time job, and I have a heck of a time finding time to workout.

  6. I don't fault her for posting it. To each her own, right??

  7. I don't see anything wrong with the picture itself. It's not any different from the thousands of motivational pictures that are all over pinterest. It's supposed to make you think, "If she can look that awesome after having three kids, then surely I can do it, too!"

That being said, I think the REASON for her putting it up is inappropriate. She says she's annoyed for people who are proud of their curves??? Who is she to judge? I am so envious of women who can look in the mirror and be proud of what they see.

So, bottom line, I think her picture is a good motivational tool for those who need and want to be motivated, but it shouldn't be used as a judgment for the choices other women make.
