Okay, first of all Happy New Year to you and everyone you love! I hope that 2014 will be everything you hope it will be.
On a personal note I must say that I don't think we could have a worse year than 2013 so we are very cautiously optimistic about this year.
Tomorrow we are going back to work and back to school and I really should be cleaning the kitchen and the lounge but nah I have neglected my blog for way too long. The good news is that I got a mini iPad from my work so I'll be able to blog on the train to or from work, meaning more regular posts, I hope.
We have been having the mildest winter in years. The temperature has been averaging around 8 - 10 deg / 46 - 50F without a hint of snow. Some days are sunny but most of them are grey and wet. Today is one of those with a drop in the temperature to 3 / 39. And what is better than a nice bowel of soup on a day like today.
Problem is my family is not big on soup. The only soup they like is potato soup and let's face it it's not really soup, or is it? Anyway, despite this fact I decided to try a 'new' soup on them, tomato, basil cheddar soup.
Yum! It was amazing! Himself even asked for seconds! The kids were less enthusiastic about it but I'm not too worried about that. I'm sure you all have this recipe already but just in case you don't this is the one I used, try it you will not be disappointed!
I agree! Boo to 2013! Hoping this year is much better for you guys :)
ReplyDeleteHappy new year!! this looks good. I love soup in the wintertime. I'm jealous of your warmer temps. we just got buried in snow last week.
ReplyDeleteI hear ya about being busy (from your previous post). I hope 2014 will be a happy, prosperous, and healthy year for you and your sweet family!!!
ReplyDeleteI think we're getting your cold weather….the windchill will be below zero here tomorrow in Central Alabama…we aren't used to cold like that!
The soup looks yummy! We're having red beans and rice tonight.

tomato cheddar basil sounds amazing! Would your family eat chili or stew? We had chili and cornbread for dinner tonight and it was delicious!
ReplyDeleteThat looks so good! While the rest of the country is in a deep freeze right now, Seattle is having a very mild winter. No rain, no snow, no cold. I'm worried about drought and wild fires this summer! Here's to 2014!
ReplyDeleteSo the winters aren't always this mild?! I was wondering when it was going to actually get cold here! All it has done since we've been back is rain. I'd rather have cold, sunny days than all these rainy ones!
ReplyDeleteI don't know what you're talking about - potato soup is soup!! :o)
