When the cat is away the mouse will play

I’m both husband and childless at the moment. The kids have gone camping for 10 days with my parents, despite the fact that Tiger broke his wrist on Monday evening.
And Himself is in Sopron, Hungary at the Balaton festival with Stack-Cup until Monday.

So just what am I doing with all this free time? Getting stuff done around the house you may assume. No, I hang out with the ‘boys’ from the office.

Four of the guys in the office and I have constant sports bets running. Since all four of us will be taking some time off between now and the end of August it was decided that yesterday was a good day to settle all outstanding payments. (we don't bet money, we bet drinks).

I got to bed at about 1:30 this morning. It was fun. Good company, sunny (if a bit cool) weather. On our way to the station we came across some live music so we just had to get our dance on and before we realized it was late, on a school night.

The only down side was that I woke up at 5:30 this morning! WHAT!! and you know how it goes, Murphy’s law … I couldn’t fall back asleep until 5 min before my alarm went off.

I’m drinking lots of cups of tea & coffee and plan on getting to bed early tonight cause I really have to get stuck into purging Cat’s bedroom, before she comes back.

Are you ever home alone? Do you enjoy it? How do you spend your 'free time'?

  1. I am a lump on a log when I am home alone. I usually just read because that is virtually impossible with two kids!

  2. I don't like it unless I have a project to work on *then* I love it! Enjoy your free time, and I hope you get some rest tonight!

  3. It's always eerily quiet in my house if I am home alone, I have to have the TV on and some music going, and usually I have no idea what to do with myself. I will clean what needs to be cleaned.. then pace around the house ha ha!

  5. I've never been home for an extended period without husband and kids. I think I would try to find a happy mix of television watching and project completion, with a whole lot of junk food mixed in!

  6. Enjoy your peace!

I'll be getting alone time soon. My husband is gone and my mom will be taking the kids.

  7. Ha! Yep, that sounds about right - if you have to get up early, you're guaranteed to be incapable of falling asleep! Glad you had a good time!

I love being with my family, but I also REALLY value my alone time, too. I gotta have it every day or I get kind of witchy!
