Motivation?

If you read my post of yesterday you will know that I only have 2 new years’ resolutions this year:

  1. for us is to make it to 2014
  2. to lose some weight

There is not much I can really do to ensure that my family ‘survive’ 2013 but I sure can do something about losing some weight.

I don’t know about you, but the older I get the worse my self-control has become. 10 Years ago losing a couple of kilos was nothing. These days I can find so many excuses for having just another cookie/chocolate, slice of bread, mac & cheese; anything basically.

As for exercising, finding a valid excuse why I can’t is just as easy.

But, if there is one thing that has not changed it is fact that I hate spending money on myself.

Now, I’m sure you are wondering how this ties in with losing weight. Here’s why:

My friend Noreen & I both want to lose weight. Not much, about 5kg. (11lbs). Honestly, I want to lose a bit more but if I can lose this I’ll be happy.

So we have decided that we will see who can lose the weight the fastest. The loser will then have to buy the other one their concert ticket. We are going to go see Bon Jovi in June.

Since money is already tight in my house having to buy 2 tickets i/o 1 ticket (or no ticket – if I win) might just be the best motivation to lose this weight yet.

Let the weight loss begin!

ps. relax!  I’m not planning on starving myself or anything stupid I’m just going to stop eating junk, walk a bit faster when I walk the dogs at night, etc

  2. nice resolutions! if i would have done the "traditional new year's resolutions" ... they probably would have looked very similar to yours.. 2-3 tops. i'm hoping doing goals monthly will help me stay focused on just a few key items. good luck with the weight loss!! hope you win!! ;)

  7. In December I bought two tickets to the Bon Jovi concert taking place in Johannesburg on 11 May. Soooo excited! Yay! Best decision I ever made to spend my annual bonus on. All of my aunts and cousins will be travelling up from the Eastern Cape to enjoy it with us. I have some awesome aunts and cousins. This will be my third Bon Jovi concert. The first was in 1995 in Durban. The second in Auckland in 2011. And now Johannesburg in 2013. I'm thinking a tradition is born. Perhaps for the next concert, I'll watch them in USA...? A girl can dream.

  8. I've been in a real exercise rut lately. It always boosts my mood and makes me feel better about myself, but I really have to pull on myself to do it. I've been really rocking the "I'm pregnant" excuse, which is not much better than the "It's cold outside" or "Who exercises on Tuesdays?" excuses.
