A tickle, a slap, music and food

Okay so today's post is going to be totally random.

I often talk about life in Belgium etc but the fact of the matter is that I was born and raised in South Africa, and I realized that I never talk about that.

So anyway, I thought I might mention something about it today since today is Heritage day in South Africa. On this day, South Africans across the spectrum are encouraged to celebrate their culture and the diversity of their beliefs and traditions, in the wider context of a nation that belongs to all its people.  In 2005, a media campaign sought to "re-brand" the holiday as National Braai Day, (Braai is pronounced like fry as in Bry) in recognition of the South African culinary tradition of holding informal backyard barbecues, or braais.

On 5 September 2007, Archbishop Desmond Tutu celebrated his appointment as patron of South Africa's Barbecue (Braai) Day, affirming it to be a unifying force in a divided country (by donning an apron and tucking into a (boerewors) sausage).

At the end of 2007 National Braai Day changed its name to Braai4Heritage and the initiative received the endorsement of South Africa's National Heritage Council.

In light of it being Heritage day I thought I would also share some South African music with you. I don't listen to a whole lot of South African music in my everyday life but every once in a while when we feel nostalgic Himself and I will listen to some songs that remind us of when we were little. This is one of our favourite songs and the bonus is that it includes the lyrics in both English & Afrikaans ....

Random fact # 2

You can now go to Thailand to endure experience legal non-surgical “body-slapping” treatments to improve your figure. Some of the benefits include bigger boobs and/or firmer bottoms and faces. I kid you not, if you don't believe me you can check out the news article.

Random fact # 3

Also in the UK, or coming to tv screens in the UK : Couples to have sex on live Channel 4 show. No live sex or nudity will be shown since the couples will be having sex in a soundproofed box in the middle of the studio (I would imagine that the 'box' will not see-through either. After the fact, the couple will then be interviewed by a panel of experts. According to the TV bosses the aim of the show is to have a truthful and immediate talk about sex to reclaim sex from the porn industry.

I think that is enough randomness from me for one day. Have a great Tuesday!
